Consider Joining or contacting the Rhodesian ridgeback clubs for general advice to help you in what to look for and also on breeders websites.

They have people who will answer questions in a honest manner as best to there ability.

There are more localised links on that site .

Might be a good idea to search out a good vet ,try getting a local one to you but one that also knows about ridgebacks, puppy classes and ringcraft are usualy advertised at your local vets.Classes are great places to meet new friends for you and your dog and a great place to get info on local dog friendly parks, pups, camping, holiday places etc.

Chat to your neighbours and let them feel involved in your new pup , dont forget sleepless nights are not only had by you in those first few weeks.

Designer rugs and ornaments are often playtoys so dont go re decorating just before you get a new addition , read up on crate training and toilet training as this is the first thing when you get home.

Crates are a training aid for the new pup but they are also places of peace and quiet , dont asume you can use one for the first time and not need to read up on them, it is not a prison or a punishment It should be as usefull to you for those times you need to clean or feed the family as well as being a place for pup to feel safe and warm.
